This show is worth the watch if you have time. The show description and episode summaries online read as if this is a promising new show with seasoned actors; however, there's just something about it that is lacking. I think it could have been better with either better direction or better actors (or both). It just wasn't as engaging as it could have been. Good premise though.
This show is a decent time filler. On occasion the music is actually really good. It is meant to be an evening soap opera but it is missing the draw that evening soaps like Dallas, Dynasty and the more recent Empire have, but it is good enough to add to my summer line up given that there is very little good TV on in the summer.
Given that there isn't much on TV during the holidays I thought I've give this a shot. I managed three episodes but it is rather predictable and lacking in originality so I gave up.
The premise seemed like it had potential, but I could barely finish the first episode. I don't like a single character and the actors seem rather green...even the GoT alum seems to be overacting. I wanted to like it so I watched more episodes to see if it would grow on me and I only want my time back. I can't recommend this show. If this gets renewed after only an 8 episode season, it will be a miracle.
What a hidden gem! This show was on my list for a while and I just started watching two months ago. I powered through season 1, went back to watch the webisodes of Awkward Black Girl on YouTube (which this show is based upon... season 1 of the webisodes were low production value but good writing, season 2 was like a mini-version of this show, awesome). This show is as raw as life, I'm sure the characters don't have to "act" much because many of the circumstances in the show have been lived by each of us to some extent. I started with a 4 star rating, but after season 2, this is a 5/5. Highly recommended.
I LOVE Bryan Cranston and Giovanni Ribisi, so what's not to like about this show? I can't complain at all, creative plot, talented cast (with Bryan Cranston in his element for those who know him as Walter White versus Hal from Malcolm in the Middle), and great character development. Excellent show!
Wow...this is pretty bad. From the mediocre acting, the obviously Australian actress' American accents, to the weak plot... I don't even see how this can make it as a summer show, where there is a much lower bar to renewal. I knew this after the first episode, but watched the second anyway to confirm.
The little girl in this show has the most hilarious facial expressions... the casting director of this show did an excellent job because all the actors fit their characters perfectly. This show is the height of sarcasm, wit, and dark comedy. I thought season 1 was great, then I realized just how much I missed it when season 2 started, and each episode gets better. It is rare when a comedy actually makes me laugh, so I'm sticking with this one and highly recommend this show!
I really loved this show... I actually had viewing parties with my friends during the first season. The finale reviews are quite mixed, but I was happy with it overall. Definitely a show worth watching if you didn't catch it live.
Despite the unique plot, good actors and good acting, this show suffers because it hasn't given the viewer a reason to care about any of the characters. It doesn't have that "oh, I can't wait to see what happens to X next episode". I'm not the type of person who needs to relate to the characters in a show in order to like it, so that isn't the reason, and I not sure what the reason is... They should wrap it up neatly this season.
EDIT 2018: Well, they didn't wrap it up and instead cancelled it with several plots unfinished. Hate it when that happens.
