Oh WOW! This show is SOOOOOO good. I am finally watching this one month after it was released and it is excellent. The story of Pablo Escobar has been told many times because it is such a fascinating yet equally horrible story and Netflix did a great job from the very high production quality to the blending of real life documentary footage. There seems to be only one complaint from Colombians regarding the accents being off, but I'm not Colombian, so for me the complaint about the accents doesn't bother me, though it would if I were able to discern regional Spanish accents. If you haven't watched this yet, what are you waiting for?
I'm very interested to see Season 2, because the series has progressed quite quickly and if you know the real life history, they have already told so much of the story that I fear Season 2 won't be as good if they try to artificially prolong it with too much fictionalized drama instead of leaning more on historical accuracy because so far the truth of the story is the more compelling part. What a horrible man.
They LITERALLY picked up where they left off! And that is not a compliment. Heroes was a great show during seasons 1 and 2...then it took a turn for the worse and never recovered. This reboot has simply picked up at the same place in the downward spiral that was Heroes. I watched the first two episodes, I'll wait to see if it gets cancelled before I invest anymore time hoping that it gets better.
I really liked this... great acting from the lead actress, I completely believed her fear and strength. I hope this does well in the ratings because it looks like a keeper!
When did this show get so good? I've been watching since the beginning and I remember thinking it was going to be cancelled after each season. Now here we are in season 4 and I think this may have been the best season so far!
OMG I loved this show and by the time it ended I felt too old to watch it!
What a great retelling of the Superman story. I loved Tom Welling's portrayal and don't get me started about Michael Rosenbaum's awesome Lex Luthor.
Surprisingly good show, I had no idea 50 Cent was a triple threat... 50 Cent is not a great actor by any means, but everyone else in the show holds their own. And to give 50 his credit, he's done an amazing job behind the scenes of this show, without him it wouldn't exist.
UPDATE 2020 - This show was consistently good with the lowest rated episode I have being 4 and the highest being a 5. The show wraps up nicely and doesn't leave you wondering what happened after investing years like so many other shows do, so I highly recommend it!
You'll find that the US version starts off with the same script, just different actors, but if you watch this first (or simultaneously) you'll see the huge difference in the quality of acting and the overall feel of the show. This one is like a fine wine, and the US one is like a decent house wine. Both are good, but you'd obviously rather have the fine wine.
This show is basically a funny take on all those time people say "I literally [insert sarcastic comment here]..." For example (not a spoiler because this is in the promo and in the show picture above) in the first episode he goes on date with a real troll. how many times have guys said "I literally went on a date with a troll!" People misuse the word "literally" and this show gives viewers the chance to see how ridiculous it would be if what they said was true. Like, "I literally went to the wedding from hell" of "My ex-girlfriend's left stuff at my place and it's literally haunting me." I love this show, and it's written by a boy-man writer from Saturday night live who is young enough to be my son! Yikes!
I usually don't rate shows after only having watched one episode but this is one of the few times I feel compelled to do so. I thought this show was going to suck based upon the guest role that Batwoman had on Gotham last season, but I was wrong. It appears that Ruby Rose has grown into the role more so than she had in the Gotham arch. Another thing I liked about the show is that it was, for lack of a better word, "glossy". It was filmed in an almost movie-esque fashion (similar to tonight's opener of TWD) the quality was higher and although I'm not into film and have no idea what the change in filming is, it looked great. It's only a 3.5 now, but I can see this show improving as time goes on. The backstory was great and I liked the reveal at the end, it let's viewers know the focus of the next several episode and the story arc, which is the perfect superhero trope, in a good way.
As a woman, one thing I hate about female superheroes is when the women who are cast as the superhero are skinny rather than athletic or toned. Do you recall how buff Lena Hedley got when she portrayed Sarah Connors in the Terminator TV show before she was in Game of Thrones? Well, that's how I like to see strong female characters look when the strength required is physical. I can suspend my disbelief only so far to think that this skinny, frail framed woman can actually physically take down a normal sized woman let alone a man. Even the current Supergirl, while not very athletic is at least a normal healthy framed woman. That's a casting issue but I do see strength conveyed by Ruby Rose emotionally so I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually.
As for people who review this show with nonsense about LGBT being "pushed onto us and our kids" and calling LGBT "perverted", let me get one thing straight, I'm heterosexual and unlike that poster, I am not homophobic or ignorant. Here's the thing, if you don't like the show, don't watch it. And if you don't want your kids to watch it, don't let them... my God, the TV has an off switch and the ability to change channels and the ability to block content. But if you are ignorant then you wouldn't know that. All a parent needs to do is talk to their children but most parents don't talk to their kids about sex whether it is heterosexual sex or not. It sounds too simple to be true, but all you have to do is ensure your kids are watching AGE APPROPRIATE shows. I'm 45 and my parents didn't say a word to me about sex, and if they had, I'm certain that I would have not lost my virginity the way I had. So yeah, COMMUNICATION is what parents should be doing with their kids about ALL types of sex, and violence for that matter. Don't be ignorant like the other reviewer, change the channel if you don't like a show and RAISE your kids by openly communicating with them about subjects you feel are important. I can only hope that homophobic comments like that aren't passed down to children, comments like that need to end... people are people regardless of who they chose to have sex with.
This show is a very hard watch in terms of subject matter yet it is absolutely necessary. If you know any person who says "Why don't women report rape in a timely fashion?" then tell them about the true story behind this show and politely tell them to STFU.
