Savor every moment!
Eva Green puts on an acting clinic this week in A Blade of Grass. This wasn't TV, instead it was theatre at its best.
I realize that Penny Dreadful isn't for everyone, but if you enjoy and appreciate fine acting, this weeks episode will satisfy your needs. This episode took place in a padded cell featuring Miss Green, Rory Kinnear and Patti LuPone, their theatre-esque performances were very powerful.
This role was tailor made for Marta Dusseldorp, her acting is superbly intense as well as being extremely human, as it was in Crownies. The story line follows the typical script found in courtroom dramas however the acting of Ms Dusseldorf keeps one engaged throughout. Do yourself a favor and binge Crownies to fill in Janet King's back story.
The Shadowhunters keeps the same story line that was revealed in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones movie.
The CG is good, and most of the cast compliment the original characters, however, Katherine Grace McNamara's over-the-top performance detracts from the story.
She is no Lily Collins nor is she the Katherine McNamara that I had become accustomed to, I liked her performance in Maze Runner.
After watching episode 7 I am still disappointed with this show and the casting. More over I keep wishing that Isabelle (Emeraude Toubia) was in the lead. Katherine McNamara acting and red hair are such a distraction.
If you are hoping for the same style that Lily Collins brought to the lead role, you will be disappointed.
I will keep watching because I want to see how far they will take the story, hopefully by then Katherine will feel more comfortable playing the lead.
After a second look, I realize what's missing is the intensity Tom Cruise brought to the role which carried over to the others in the ensemble. Although we love Meagan Good, she's just to soft for this particular role. Maybe if there wasn't a point of reference, I recently re-watched the original, this may have had a chance.
I'm still watching and have noticed that the PreCogs are making this show engaging. Agatha (Laura Regan), and her brother Arthur (Nick Zano), have added a darkness and criminal element to this drama. Even Dash (Stark Sands), personality is changing for the better. I still feel that Meagan Good is the wrong one to carry the lead even though she has the support of From Dust Till Dawn star Wilmer Valderrama. It would be a shame for this show to end before Agatha and Arthurs stories are told.
Comedian Jerrod Carmichael has taken on the task of sinking his own show.
Without the comedic stylings of Loretta Devine and David Alan Grier this show would die a horrible death, their timing and delivery causes one to burst into laughter. Thank you Mr. Grier, you have been missed. Unfortunately, Amber Stevens-West hasn't hit the comedic stride that was apparent in Greek.
If this show focused more on the funny rather then trying to make social comments, its life may be extended.
Another winner from Amazon video..
This is a story of Casanova after debauchery has waned. The electricity between Casanova (Diego Luna) and Madame Pompadour (Bojana Novakovic) promises to be full of fight and fire. One of the strengths of this ensemble is veteran actress Miranda Richardson.
The French period costumes are true eye candy.
I dislike these anti-climatic episode endings!
The premise is taken from the book of Revelations. This modern story is about the angels that try to stop the final destruction of the world. The potential is there but the execution leaves a little something to be desired. In the past few weeks the episodes abruptly end, causing this viewer much angst. The story moves at a good pace as good fights evil and the devil portrayal is reminiscent Al Pacino in Devil's Advocate. However, the episode endings don't have any correlation with what was viewed or the upcoming story.
YES!!!
In line with the original movie, this adaptation does not disappoint. Insatiably good and horror filled, and the acting is superb. Developed by the master of shock Robert Rodriquez, this series will be returning for a second season.
Different then most!
Most food shows has a host that prepare food in a quest to educate.
Guy brings you to a few different eateries weekly. No two styles are alike. Whether the food is being prepared in a hole in the wall, bistro or bar, the food is usually unique and in most cases prepared from scratch.
This is a great show for the food enthusiast as well as those in the food industry, a little something for everybody.
Just heard about the cancellation WTH!
This of course was the worst season, why the heart disease, the leaving of the agency, a new love interest, what a writing mess. It's as if they were hoping for the shows ultimate end. Annie Walker was no longer fresh and exciting, as in the beginning. Replaced by a permanent scowl, this Annie broke Auggies heart and made every challenge too personal. I am extremely disappointed, this show had so much potential.
