The White Princess

This is not the White Queen!
With the exception of Essie Davis, whom I would watch in anything, and Michelle Fairley (Catelyn Stark), absent is the production value and star power.
No lavish costumes or grandeur on display, this production is dark and dismal.
I was really looking forward to this but all I end up with is a woeful sigh...

Wow!
What a powerhouse ensemble..
This is a trip definitely worth taking, it is sci-fi at its best.
Thank you HBO!

Jack Bower is no where to be found!
This well acted fictional political drama, makes one contemplate the possibility on this happening in this day and age, makes you go hmmm.
I love the actors, Natascha McElhone is the perfect First Lady. Keifer Sutherland, as always, is on top of his game, although at times I found it difficult to see him in any other role other then Jack Bower.

Something new each episode..
Season 2 starts off by kicking butt and taking names.
Seriously, since this show began I don't remember one that disappointed.

Wasn't bad, wasn't great!
The show has the potential to become a good action vehicle as long as the comedy doesn't get in the way..

What a novel approach to Americas past time!
The first episode inspired and entertained, the fragility and strength of this subject kept me completely engaged.
And that surprise near the end was the icing on the cake.
How this can be improved upon in future episodes baffles the mind, but I will be there to witness it all...
Another thought: This should have been a movie.

Devious Maids

RIP Devious Maids
For me watching Lifetime has been hit or miss. However since my discovery of Devious Maids I had become an ardent fan. Starring actresses with serious acting and comical chops, I couldn't wait to view the next installment. Ana Ortiz (Ugly Betty), Dana Ramirez (Heroes), Roselyn Sanchez (Without a Trace), Judy Reyes (Scrubs), Rebecca Wisocky (The Mentalist), and the incomparable Susan Lucci (All My Children), bring so much humor and drama to the screen that waiting to binge Devious Maids was just a waste.
Unfortunately now that it has been cancelled, that is all that's left to do, Rest in Peace...

The acting throughout is excellent.
The story is through the eyes of Teresa Mendoz (Alice Braga; City of God, Elysium), who hastily fled Mexico, and has been forced to work for Camilla Vargas, the Don Corleone of the Mexican mob in Dallas Texas. Veronica Falcón brings Camilla Vargas to the screen and champions season 1 so far with 2 episodes remaining. Camilla's business is in direct conflict with her husband, who controls drug trafficking in Mexico.
The shows description states that Theresa will settle in Spain, where she looks to become the country's reigning drug smuggler.
With the season finale less then a few weeks away, there is no indication of how this will happen.
One can only hope that this show is not cancelled before the big reveal.

Kudos to Hailey Gates for her engaging vision of the world of fashion in this documentary!
Season one takes us on journeys through neighborhoods in Pakistan, Congo, Venezuela, Russia, Palestine and China.
This is an insiders look into the impact fashion has on each of those communities, showing us what the world wears, and why.
It also gives a candid view of the "idea of beauty", showing the traditions and the progress fashion has made.
There is plenty of fashion but this is not a fashion show.
