I know of a lot of people who gave up on this show. Yes its contrived and at times portrays incredibly stereo-typed characters, but there are moments when it really hits home. I can understand a lot of people being angered by it, but believe that Season 2 has started to look more into the characters and their motivations and think it is starting to show promise. That said, some people may well find many of the characters to be offensive, and can understand why some reviews both here and on other sites are very angry... as an average white person I suppose I have no real perspective.
Ok. Huge Stephen King fan, so understandably was getting a bit disheartened by the first season (Julia Shumway was a 'tough old broad' in the book!) Then I read an article in which Stephen King quoted another writer (sorry can't remember now who it was) and he was citing a conversation where said writer was asked if he was disappointed by how much film makers had changed his book to which the writer replied (not a direct quote, but in the ballpark) 'they didn't change my book, its right there on the shelf if you want to read it'. This actually really resonated with me and I decided to persevere and give it a fair shot. Without my SK prejudices I actually really started to enjoy this show, and by S3 am REALLY enjoying it. It has diverged so completely from the book now that it can be viewed as a separate entity entirely. While I wouldn't go so far as to say I am overly excited by it, I do look forward to each episode and would recommend that people at least give it a shot.
Reality shows annoy me because they are so clearly not reality....UnReal is a great (if somewhat melodramatic) insight into the machinations of such shows. I love this, and am concerned because I seem to be the kiss of death, every time I start to really enjoy something....it gets cancelled. That said I do think it's been picked up for a second season. I would recommend anyone to invest in this show and see how things turn out for the crew of 'Everlasting'
Great family show. Love figuring out who the new characters are. My 10yo and I watch this together and we both love it. It bridges the gap between adult and child shows brilliantly with something for all age groups. So happy there will be S5.
WOW! This is a series that really needs to be given a chance. I went from indifference, to mildly intrigued to absolutely hooked during the first four or five episodes. It is a very complex story that takes a bit of dedication on the viewers part, but is well worth it. Can't wait for the finale, and hope there are more series to come.
Used to love this show. Now have season 9 recorded and same for first episodes of s10. Will eventually get around to watching them, but am not sure when this show stopped being about crime and relationships and started being about the writers political and social views. It would have been easy to involve these in the show naturally, but instead there are whole scenes (usually in the diner) where the conversations between the characters feel as though there are people standing behind them with prompt boards, they are just saying what they're told to, and we are being preached at. As I said, will get round to catching up with the show, but feel that the political views referenced outside of the main episode plots are really detracting from what for 71/2 seasons was a fantastic show.
Can't quite pin down this show. Like the story, like the actors, like the filming, but find myself putting off watching an episode for days because of 'nah don't fancy that today' syndrome. Can't really say why, maybe because it is a show that you need to invest real time in, not be pressing pause to get a coffee or having a chat over the top of with your kids. Its a shame that a show of this calibre (and it is good, despite the other reviews) just can't seem to find a target audience. I don't think we'll be seeing a season 2.
OK, this is absolutely not Resurrection! I have seen Les Revenants, which is awesome and highly recommended, but there is a darkness to this show which just isn't a part of Ressurrection which is based more on secrets and conspiracies. After the first few episodes it is very closely following the line of the Les Revenants story, which is good, but I don't know where it's going as Les Revenants just kind of ends, they stopped making it. I have high hopes for this, but am wary of the Broadchurch effect (ie. awesome show re-made in america, following same story but somehow just doesn't work). Here's hoping we get a season 2
Very funny show. Would recommend to anyone looking for a light-hearted (mostly) non-offensive comedy. Deals with some stereotypes, but really just poking fun at the world we live in, stuff that we are so used to we've forgotten how ridiculous a lot of it is.
Finally, s10 is kicking off and its nearly over. I love supernatural, been following it since the start, but this series just seemed to plod along. Only started to get really good in the last two episodes. There is a feeling that the show is drawing to an end, but really SEASON 10! possible SEASON 11! not too many shows of this type make it that far. A good overall show, and will keep watching even if they go to SEASON 20! haha
