All I can say about this amazing show is - you have to watch it. The acting - Superb! The story lines - Superb! the lighting, editing, directing, everything about this show is top notch! It's the show I rave about to people who have no interest in my 'niche' viewing (horror, sci-fi etc). There are no big twists and blow outs in this, just perfectly paced dramatic stories with a few ongoing threads to tie the whole thing together. That said, many of the story lines are hard hitting and as they reflect directly modern news stories we have a line of contact with the on-screen themes. Well done absolutely everyone involved in this show - you nailed it.
Hmm, this is a bit of a strange one. Wouldn't dream of missing an episode, but at the same time am not sure how much i like it. The story is certainly engaging and the acting top notch, but somehow the story stretches just a little too thin, there's too much else going on that could be tv shows in themselves: the drug ring: the sick girl trying to fit in with her peers; the unhinged mother. While it works in some respects, I often find myself urging the writers to just get to the point. That said, by the conclusion of the second series we did seem to be focusing more on Norman's problems and developing the arc of the character that leads to Norman Bates - aka Psycho. Will just have to see what season 3 brings
Absolutely fantastic political drama. Starts slowly - though still incredibly watchful - escalating to a scenario that seems all too probable in today's world where demands on energy and control of resources seem to surpass all morality. Wonderfully crafted and superbly acted a real gem of a show.
Yet again another awesome show cancelled no doubt to make way for some reality drivel about x-a listers or people who are only famous for being famous! So sick of the networks at this stage - or maybe i'm sick of people watching said drivel and creating the demand for it....whatever Fine, it wasn't shakespeare, but it was entertaining, amusing and emotionally engaging. Would have loved to see more of these characters. Will be looking out for several of the actors in other shows.
what a lovely surprise! Said I'd chance it, but thought it would probably be a bit wishy washy. Not so! If you like Castle and Elementary and other shows of that ilk (which I do, we can't watch intense shows all the time guys!) then you'll probably like this. A nice gentle show (albeit it with murder investigations) to sit and relax with.
The host on the radio network I listen to won't shut up about this show, constantly weaving it into reviews wherever possible (George Hook - Ireland) so I finally relented and said I'd give it a go. WoW! not at all what I was expecting the West Wing with a kick ass attitude. Writing is impeccable, acting superb and every now and then gives you a 'holy ****' moment. Don't want to give away a second of plot as its too good to ruin for everyone! One of (if not) the smartest tv shows on at the moment. DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW
I can't be the only one who loved this show- thought the play on the 'reality show contest goes horribly wrong' scenario while not original was one of the best variations on this theme I've seen. Thought it showed real promise, and yet again the networks backed off without giving it a real shot. Have noticed it keeps going from 'cancelled' to 'in danger' so am hoping against hope it gets picked up (unlikely I know) and we find out what the hell the army were up to!
I can't tell you what's good about this show, because I can't put my finger on it. It is dreary and slow paced and confusing as hell. It is also completely addictive, beautifully shot, impeccably acted and in my top 5 shows! It is a masterpiece and captures the imagination with its mystery while also keeping you engaged with these ordinary people who have experienced the most extraordinary event. Highly recommended, as Abed would say...six seasons and a movie people!
POSSIBLE SPOILERS
Love this show, but its a true guilty pleasure, because there is a real sense that at any second it could jump the shark completely! Have not read the comics, so could be way off base, but it seems soooo farfetched that Oliver got all that done (and at one point returned to Starling City as we recently found out) in 5 years, and we haven't even touched the surface i'd say. By the way, how does one of the best known faces in Starling City secretly return and no-one sees or recognises him despite the fact that he's been all over the media as he supposedly 'died'. and if he was so desperate to get home to his family, why didn't he (with his newly developed stealth and intensive training) find a way to at least get a message to them? That said, grab some munchies, switch off your brain and enjoy. this is a cracking show!
First series took me a while to get into but ended up kind of enjoying it, but series two is not getting me excited at all. Might give up on this one, think its getting a bit too farfetched (i know, its a fantasy, but still) for my liking with story lines connected by ever more unlikely threads.
