The Transformers was an American animated television series depicting a war between giant robots who could transform into vehicles, animals, and other objects. In response to the 1993 comic book relaunch of the series being called Transformers: Generation 2, this series and its comic book parallel are commonly referred to as Transformers: Generation 1.
