It was actually pretty good and the ending had a really good and totally unexpected twist. Nicely done! It takes a bit to get started so bear with it for the first few episodes. It will pick up and the last two episodes are really good. If they can keep that momentum for the next season, than season 2 will be great!
Totally awesome! I was hooked from the first minute. Great story, great characters and great actors. It is so NOT your typical fairy tale story. It is set in this Victorian/Steampunk fantasy land and centers around a war that left a lot of fae creatures homeless and seeking refuge in The Burgh. It has this gothic vibe going on which is really cool.
The characters are well drawn and you get into the story really quick even without knowing the background of the main characters which is not revealed until the third episode. The story might be predictable but it has quite a few unexpected twists and turns and keeps you glued to the screen the whole time.
The settings are awesome and something that you rarely see in a series.
I can't believe there are only eight episodes to this first season. But I am so relieved that Amazon renewed it for another season. Hopefully with more episodes to it. I know I cannot wait for the next season!
Do you know that feeling when you favorite book suddenly comes to life? This is it!
The characters are just like I pictured them. The story is just as compelling on screen as it was in the books. I have imagined the books as movies, but they might even be better as a series. Way more time and room to fully spread out the story.
There is great acting and, like I said before, they stick very close to the original story. You can tell it is a British show because it is more subtle and not so much "in your face" as a lot of the American series. Nothing extreme going on, everything is being well played out. And the way Matthew's and Diana's love story develops is just beautiful.
I hate that there are only 8 episodes. They could have played things out a bit more, made more episodes out of it. There is still room for expansion. But it is very well done. I am so hooked! This is awesome beyond words!
After watching Season 2 I am disappointed, though. As close as they were sticking to the books with the first season, they have changed the story in the second season - a lot. Why couldn't they do what they did the first time around and just stick to the books? A lot of things, that in my opinion are really important to the story, are not complete or totally missing. It feels really rushed instead of letting the story just play out. They should have made more episodes instead of just packing everything willy-nilly into the 10 episodes they allotted the show.
They did good on some of the characters. I was a bit afraid they wouldn't get Gallowglass right but they actually did a good job of casting him. The same goes for Goody Alsop. But I am disappointed in Phoebe. I expected more of her persona.
As much as I hate having to do so, I have to change my 5-star-rating (after watching the first season) to 2.5 stars.
I am still looking forward to the last season and I am still hoping they will do a sequel and tell Marcus's story. Time will tell. And hopefully, the last season will be better again. And, please, not as rushed as this one.
Unfortunately, the last season felt even more rushed than the second one. I am sorely disappointed in the way they told the story. They pretty much changed the whole darn book. It was an okay story that they told in this last season, but it is not the story from the book.
I would have liked to up my rating again, but, alas, it will have to stay low.
There is so much potential in this story and it deserved so much more than it got from this adaptation.
I watched the first three episodes to fet a good look at this show before I formed an opinion. But I have to say I was pretty much into it after the first one.
Well thought out characters, good acting and a good storyline. After the first three episodes you know the characters and you gave an idea on who they are and where they come from.
I like the characters and I like the actors portraying them. They were all strong from the get go. I am really glad that CBS picked this show up for a full season. And I am hoping for many more to follow. This is a solid show with the potential for a long run.
I am EXCITED! I love Star Trek. I am one of the "Next Generation" generation. That used to be one of my favorite shows on TV. The ones that followed never really got to me. Until now. 20 years after Star Trek: Next Generation started airing there is an awesome new show. And after watching the first two episodes I am already hooked. Really looking forward to see were this show is going to take me. And I am pretty sure it will be a final frontier where no man has gone before.
Live long and prosper!
After watching the pilot I can say I am officially intrigued. I love me some good sci-fi. And this sounds really good. And, hell, it got my second favorite musketeer in it ♥
After having watched 7 episodes I have to say this show is really picking up! In the beginnIng I was thinking: Yeah, good story. I am intrigued. But how are they going to make a series out of it? It would have been a great movie plot. But a whole series that - hopefully - will last longer than one season? Well, they are doing it! This story already has so many layers, I feel like I need to write everything down to keep track of it!
The acting is good, the characters are strong and developing nicely. I am so totally hooked!
I didn't get any further than the first 10 minutes. It started out really interesting and seemed to be close to the actual period from what I could tell. But it was just not for me. It sounded really interesting and I thought I would give it a try. But for no specific reason I just didn't like it.
I am not entirely convinced this is my kind of show. I will admit I only started watching it because I read that Alexander Skarsgard was in it.
I watched the full first episode but I am a bit clueless as to what is going on and to the purpose of this show. The acting is great, but heck, there are a lot of big names involved in this. So I didn't expect anything less. As to the storyline - that's the part that does not have me convinced yet. After a full 50 minutes I still have no idea what is going on. Other than "somebody is dead". I was going to give this show a try and watch at least one more episode. But I just can't seem to find the time or motivation to do so.
It just is so not my kind of show. I guess I have enough drama in my life to not feeling inclined to watch it on TV.
This review is based on the very first episode, so it might change again, over time.
But so far, this show seems to be off to a good start. Interesting story line with a lot of potential to expand and good characters that have lots of room to be "fleshed out" over time.
This should be the beginning of a great show. I really hope they don't screw this up because I see a lot of potential in this.
After watching the full first episode I have to say, I am disappointed. The show did have potential and it was off to a good start with the first few episodes but took a dive after that. It got a bit boring and stale. It did pick up with the last two episodes but I am not sure if this is going to be enough to keep the show going.
I can honestly say I will keep watching if it gets another season but I won't be crying over it if it gets cancelled after just this one season.
You had me at the intro with "until he decided to take a vacation" and you kept me with the face of Tom Ellis. Lucifer is combining so many stereotypes of "being a man" and still or even despite of them he manages to charm your socks off and appear to absolutley adorable. Well, I guess he IS the Devil, after all . . .
I really, really enjoyed this show and all it's characters. Some seasons were better than others but the last one really pulled me back in. It was awesome. A little bit too far out there towards the end and I did not really like the ending they gave the show. But all in all, it is more than worth watching!
