Yay! I finally got Follow buttons for people! Downlaoding Opera seemed to be best for this site. Odd choice really.
This show took some terrible books with a great concept and made them interesting stories. The characters in the TV show are more fully developed. (In the book only Dexter is more than one dimensional).
Jennifer Carpenter's Debra is hilarious and moving. She did a good job of playing her foul mouth in a way that added colour to her character without making her too off putting. She was believably tough and believably vulnerable. I never felt angry at her character for protecting her brother when she learned his secret.
Michael C. Hall actually manages to make a serial killer someone you are rooting for. Almost until the end.
My all time favorite comedy duo. These fearless ladies will parody everyone. They've been Madonna, Dr Quinn Medicine Woman, Guns-N-Roses, Baby Jane - the list is seemingly endless. I am especially fond of French's Bjork.
Simon Baker is nice to watch. Nice job on the accent too. Unfortunately after a very disappointing Red John reveal the show is unwatchable.
Cute show. The 2 main characters were adorable and Katey Sagal has a lovely narrator voice. Wished they'd let it at least go to Z.
I'm not a big country music fan so I wasn't sure about this one. Connie Britton is a lovely actress and I did enjoy Nashville when I visited as a child so I gave it a try. It's become a show I look forward to. Hayden Panettiere and Clare Bowen are really good. Most of the men are hot. The story lines are good. And the music is really good. Who knew half these people could sing. And the Stella sisters really live up to the hype they've created.
And if you are a country fan there is a whole lot of country music, Nashville, and some Grand Ole Opry.
House is a brilliant a-hole. The first few seasons they balanced his arrogance and anti-social behaviour with a largely likeable cast. The cases were interesting even if the way they come to the diagnosis was unlikely.
Then House jumped on the "teaching hospital" bandwagon. It downright stupid. And just when it looked they might start to pull it back together they went with the House/Cuddy on again off again crap and all was lost.
The first 3 Seasons were 5 stars to me but the rating reflects the series as a whole.
A group of spoiled entitled brats run around partying and whining. They rarely work and when they do it doesn't last for long. Yet they somehow manage to afford apartments (and food and clothes and club fees) in NYC. They are smart young women making seriously bad life choices.
After a few seasons you are left wondering if they will ever grow up. Season 4 sees them starting to grow although at the slow pace that you expect for young people coddled throughout their life. They are starting to realize that growing up may mean growing apart.
It's fun show despite its lack of relatability.
It had so much potential but never quite lived up to it.
They had many young actors who would have a difficult time getting roles and they had them all on one show. And they were providing many younger people, who are often saddled with weight issues, a chance to see people who look like them in the media. They had an opportunity to see their struggles being acknowledged. Well they would have had that opportunity but the show seemed to have lazy writers. Often settling for cheap stereotypes instead of multidimensional human beings.
Still I'm sorry that they ended it instead of bringing in better writers. Good cast members seem to be finding their way to other shows. (Gina Torres - Suits and Revenge; Raven Goodwin - Being Mary Jane)
The first 3 seasons were 5 stars all the way. Like most shows it tends to go downhill after that. Although this one still remains 3s and 4s until the end. Totally worth the ride. And if you get a chance watch the DVDs. The audio commentaries are sometimes insightful and often hilarious.
I was never a Friends fan so I wasn't sure about this when I heard Matt LeBlanc was in it. I gave it a chance because, well, Tasmin Greig. This show did not disappoint. It is funny, laugh track free and well written.
Also, it turns out that Matt LeBlanc is a lot of fun as a fictionalized Matt LeBlanc. And the rest of the cast is wonderful. I'm particularly loving Kathleen Rose Perkins and Daisy Haggard.
