An endearingly nutty (and controversial for its time) soap-opera parody focusing on two sisters, Jessica and Mary, and their respective dysfunctional families. 'Soap' offered an irreverent take on such subjects as adultery, homicide and homosexuality through the outrageous behavior of the upper-crust Tates and the blue-collar Campbells. The Susan Harris series received four Emmys, and launched a successful spin-off sitcom showcasing Robert Guillaume's character, Benson.
