Based on Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn's book, Sharp Objects centers on reporter Camille Preaker (Amy Adams) who, fresh from a brief stay at a psychiatric hospital, must return to her tiny hometown to cover the murders of two preteen girls. Trying to put together a psychological puzzle from her past, Camille finds herself identifying with the young victims a bit too closely.
I adore these shows for their deep-seeded dramas, but also the way they are shot--seductive colors, scenery, the internal and external spaces where these characters get themselves into deeper and deeper shit. This is definitely a top shows list as well for me.
