Anne Heche stars as a woman who lets herself – and her marriage – go until she undergoes an “awakening” that transforms her into a desirable and outspoken woman who just might be channeling god.
This list is for all the shows that, for one reason or another, I liked way more than the average person. Some of these I can tell are objectionably bad, but I like them anyway, and some I just can't put my finger on why I enjoyed them at all.
Best of this List: Save Me
Worst of this List: Persons Unknown
Explanations: Dads - better jokes than I thought the writers could muster
Galavant - I'm not sure, it was just so different and happy and doofy that I was kind of forced to like it
Ghost Whisperer - It was just on for so long and also Jennifer Love-Hewitt
Glee - It was a random phenomenon that I think went on a little too long, but had some fun characters and performances
Hot in Cleveland - That all-star cast and those cameos I guess. Also Betty White being an asshole to everyone else is always funny
Leverage - Probably because it was on for so long that I just started to like the characters enough
The Lying Game - Those twin deception shows just really get me I guess, and the cast was fun with surprisingly good chemistry
No Tomorrow - Again, not sure. Maybe it's my soft spot for Joshua Sasse
Persons Unknown - I'm not sure why I like this so much. I've even re-watched it like multiple times. I guess I just really like the premise, and wish it kept getting developed
Raising Hope - That cast and just being fun and dysfunctional
Reaper - Probably the weirdly obvious plot that I wish more shows would tackle with their own unique spins
Red Band Society - Not sure, I guess bringing attention to the kids who live their lives in hospitals was pretty interesting
Revolution - Another really fun premise and cast that was wasted by trying to be the next Lost-type mega drama. Also the absurd nano-plot and that hilarious body count!!!
Save Me - It was too funny, and I don't know why anyone else didn't feel the same way!
Sirens - It was just surprisingly sweet and gave a surprising amount of depth to some unique side-characters
Terra Nova - Fun premise with dinosaurs and because of my support for Jason O'Mara
Touch - Another cool premise with some off-kilter execution that could have been pretty interesting
Trophy Wife - My expectations were so low and it really just surprised me with how open the characters were
Vegas - Jason O'Mara again I guess??? I might have a problem
Wayward Pines - That first season was just really fun with a really exciting conspiracy plot
Great but not my cup of tea. Good but not good enough. Just plain bad. Cancelled too soon to tell. Not enough hours in the day. Shows I tried and abandoned.
Shows that lasted for one season that I thought were pretty good to great! A lot of these shows will make it in the Too Soon... list as well, but some of these shows I thought showed a lot of potential in their first season, but might not have had a place to go had they been renewed.
Best of this List: BrainDead, Death Note, Save Me
Worst of this List: Persons Unknown, Red Band Society
Shout-Outs: Benched for bringing Jay Harrington and Eliza Coupe back into my life (Better Off Ted and Happy Endings crossover!)
Best Friends Forever for starting my love affair with Lennon Parham and Jessica St. Claire
BrainDead for having the absolute BEST premise for a show in 2016 and popping into my head every time I hear "You Might Think." Also, those re-cap song masterpieces.
Jason O'Mara for his presence in this category. You'll get 'em next time Jason!
The Crazy Ones for that amazing cast and the shear amount of fun had by all who watched
Death Note and Future Diary for representing anime everywhere!
Harper's Island for taking risks and stretching a slasher film out into a season-long show... and actually being a lot of fun!
The Middleman for Dub-Dub and being way ahead of its time and also deserving much better treatment than it received
Persons Unknown for hooking me and getting me excited with a crazy plot, despite not really liking the characters
Save Me for being unapologetically hilarious but I guess to only me?
Trophy Wife for being more fun than I wanted it to be
Vegas for bringing Dennis Quaid back into the mix
Working the Engels because Andrea Martin is amazing and that show was kooky as hell
