When high school teacher Lori Colson learns she's pregnant, she and husband David have the normal apprehensions. But when Lori's mother Amanda learns of the pregnancy, she opens up and reveals that Lori was adopted. Lori loves her mother, and her late father, but like any adoptee, she wants to know about her biological parents. Lori learns her biological father is Garrett Fuller, doing life in prison for killing Lori's biological grandfather. Lori starts to uncover a conspiracy that leads to the murder of Garrett's old lawyer, and she realizes powerful forces are at play in the town, all aligned against her search for the truth. Lori has no choice but to confront her mother in an effort to find out the secrets of her past. But the forces that killed Garrett's lawyer now align themselves directly against Lori. Pregnant and alone, Lori must summon all her strength to save herself and her unborn child.
