Cases involving the San Francisco Police Department's Deviant Crime Unit. Brooding Det. Jack Hale is terrific at nabbing wackos, but has a mysterious dark side that complements the grisly, depraved murders he and his partner, Danielle Carter, must probe. In fact, Hale's first partner in the show, Ava Lyford, was a department plant who was actually investigating him. But she left after the pilot episode, when the actress who played her (Marguerite Moreau) was written out of the cast.
