American Experience is PBS' longest-running tv documentary series, highlighting American historical events and figures. Popular and incredibly far-reaching, the show has covered every imaginable facet of the American experience, from the Civil-Rights struggles of African Americans and the lives of Presidents, to the history of Tupperware. Praised for its ability to shed light on lesser-known historical events, American Experience has earned over 240 broadcast awards in its 20-odd year run. Titled originally as The American Experience, the show has a large online presence, and often pairs its programs with websites providing more details on historical events featured on the show.
