Widely considered to be one of the best anime of all time, Evangelion still holds up today. At a glance the show is about 3 teenagers fighting in giant mechas as the earths first, last, and only line of defence against the worst scum in the universe, but really the story and themes go much deeper. The story goes that the creator Hideaki Anno had a mental breakdown while making the show, and managed to capture the essence of his existential crisis and distil it into story magic, like lightning in a bottle. Keep in mind the epilogue takes place in a movie called The End of Evangelion. The series won't make much sense without the movie.

Blisteringly funny, and painfully overlooked, this Paul Feig gem is a brilliant comedy set on board a spaceship lost in an alternate Dimension. Unfortunately it only has one season, since Yahoo! Screen was shut down. I would recommend this to anyone who likes Sci-Fi, Paul Feig, or Mystery Science Theatre 3000.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy

Mortal Kombat: Legacy is a fantastic live action miniseries that both pays tribute to the source material, and at the same time grounds it in a more realistic world. With adrenaline packed action sequences, and exceptional production quality, I would highly recommend this to any fans of the games, or quality action. Featuring Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine on Star Trek: Voyager) and Michael Jai White (Spawn, Blood and Bone, Black Dynamite.) You can watch this for free on YouTube or Steam.

An high quality Australian comedy that is actually quite funny. How did this happen? Take that Chris Lilley!

For a movie from the lifetime channel about a cat, with Aubrey Plaza starring, this was slightly better than expected. I guess it could be relegated to a short list of guilty christmas pleasures, after Christmas Do-Over.

Smallville

Watching Smallville is like being in an unhealthy relationship. You keep hoping things will get better, but they never do. Everything seems perfect on paper, but in reality it is extremely flawed. Just when you have had enough, ready to give up, you get a little action and it makes you think maybe it's not that bad, but when it's all over your left feeling dirty and used.

Dragon Ball Z

Dragon Ball Z was a staple in so many peoples upbringings. Who hasn't shot a Kamehameha blast at their friends? If you want to re-watch this series, or somehow haven't seen it yet, then go watch the remastered and re-cut version, Dragon Ball Z Kai.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, its... a train-wreck. Just like its namesake, this show was doomed to destroy itself under internal pressures of mediocrity.

This is a kids show that doesn't hold up for adult viewing. Look somewhere else for your Adventure Time fix.
