Two episodes into Mr Robot and I am already slightly disappointed.
Because of the big plot in season one about his father, I guess my mind is now working on overtime and questioning everything, such as 'is the Seinfeld cafe guy, also a figment of his imagination?' And for me it's spoiling the show.
I also am not keen on how slow the season is going. 2 episodes in and nothing exciting has really happened, other than a bull's balls being chopped off.
I will carry on watching this, mainly because of my enjoyment of the first season, but at this rate, will there be a season three? Hmmmm I dont know.
But whoever watches this, I recommend stop questioning everything, have a dumb down hour, and just watch it mindlessly, otherwise, it's the least bit enjoyable
Sounds like the British Show Worzel Gummidge, just an adult version of it
I was hoping this would be something like a chinese girl version of Fresh off the boat, perhaps even an adult version.
But I have to agree with Kelly Munn Bly. The writing comes across as if it was written for children and / or by children. But the programme has adult themes, including sex and drugs.
I do not get why the show is named "Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens". You dont see other actors naming a show after them. Could you imagine if all of DC shows were named after their main actor, or if the Big Bang, was named after their stars? I dont think them shows, would have worked out so well.
The more famous of the show's actors is, BD Wong, who is being wasted on this show. BD Wong is famous, having played various characters, on many TV shows and films, including Mr Robot, Jurassic World, Gotham etc. So what made him wake up one day and agree to this script, is beyond me.
As Kelly Munn Bly has commented on, the better character is the Grandmother. The grandmother is cheeky, funny and has some great one lines. I would rather have watched a show based on her, than some 30 year old girl, who lives with both her dad and grand ma.
It's not that bad.
I predict it may only last, for one, maybe two seasons.
The sets..... well what can I say, you dont really see anything but the house, and one class room in a school.
The Acting - Isnt so bad, the two younger children are not the best actors, but seeing as they are under 7, you cannot complain too much. The characters are slightly warming and partially relate-able, but I have seen better comedies out there.
I like this show, but I think Hugh Laurie was the wrong person to be cast for the captain.
Being British, I grew up watching Laurie in better comedies, such as Black Adder. He especially grew on me, because of the series house.
But I think he was the wrong comedian for this role. I think a stand up comedian would have been better. Someone who is quick on their feet, to reply with something funny. I even find it annoying how he keeps changing the accents.
Growing up in the Uk, I loved this show, and I have a lot to owe to it.
History in School never excited me. But this show opened up my eyes. It allowed me to imagine the battles from far ago, how convicts and sailors were treated. It allowed me to witness what it was like, going through the ranks like Horatio. It allowed me to enjoy History, something I still do, 20 years later.
Another thing it allows me to do, is when I rewatch these shows, it brings back fond memories and discussions with my late mother.
I loved this show, and often imagined me in his place. It made me wish I could go back in time to such periods.
Ok so it was a Tv show, and one that was not historically correct, but I will forever be appreciative of this show. I was gutted when Ioan Gruffudd started being in American shows, as I knew this would never be continued.
I hope for Children of present and future, they remake this show, so 15 year olds, like me, can relate to it, and enjoy the oceans, and what they have to discover, in the late 18th Century.
How people can rate this show as one star, when they dont watch it, is beyond me. It would be like me driving past a restaurant, not going in it, and then rating it one star.
On another note, but to do with this show. What would your plan be? if you either lived in such an event, or like a non American like myself, if you visited America, just for Purge night.
I have never been more disappointed in a Sci Fi tv show.
I was hoping to see more aliens, more action. Something that would keep me on my feet.
All I see is poor-ish acting, disappointing scenery, and aliens, which I have seen better in B movies, that are usually created by students, with little financing.
What I was hoping to see was more Alien - Human fights, more destructiveness,. This was based in a period of time, where Britain has not long fought two wars ( Boar and WW1), were proud to be fighters, were proud to be victorious, were proud to represent Britain.
Instead I felt like I got someone's life story, who had been in a coma, throughout the whole event. You saw the before, you saw the after, what happened to the inbetween?
Having not yet watched an episode or read any comics about this, from the image alone, it looks like another 'Iron Fist'
What spoilt this for me, was the "teacher" trying to sound and be too much like how Jack Black played the character in the film. I would have enjoyed it more if, rather than replicate the movie and the movies actors/actresses and instead the director use his/her own imagination and created something original.
