This series are quite good. IF you like the genre. It is what it is: zombies. Don't get near it if it disgusts you.
Also, if you are a fan of the comic, and can´t forget that you know the comic... it might also be better to not watch it, from what I'm told people who couldn´t watch it as something separate were disappointed.
Some of the story arcs are a bit boring/annoying so you might go through a dry patch once in awhile. But there are also brilliant momments. In my oppinion it's worth watching even if some seasons were a bit annoying.
The problem I have with it, is that after 5 seasons I'm sort of sick of them all. Usually this is not a problem, in your average zombi movie humans have 1~2h to make it or not, to get somewhere...
And in the beggining it was refreshing and great to have the chance to have the time to see it develop... Now... It's what's killing it.
The guys in the Walking Dead have been at it for years with no objective or hope of an actual ending any time soon. And I'm geting tired of it.
No one else around me seems to have (yet?) an issue with it... but I would bet that if they don't give the series an objective and wrap it up within 1-2 seasons, it'll start facing problems. How long can anyone watch the same guys (more or less) do the same-ish thing over and over and over?
It never fulfilled its promise. The premise was good but 1st season was a bit lame. 2nd season started promising but in the end didn't manage.
I was sort of happy watching as a filler and I would have liked an extra season to close everything.
I'm hardly surprised it was cancelled. Best thing was Monroe. Charlie was constantly moving back and forth between annoying and awesome.
All in all...knowing now that it got cancelled... You can probably give it a pass. I hope to see some of the actors back in some other TV series I think they had potential and just needed a better series.
It trully is a feel good show. Not everyone's thing, but worth a shot. It's also oddly instructive to me, not being from the USA I've sort of learned a lot of stuff about how some stuff works over there. Surprisingly different I have to say.
My recomendation is this: if you are enjoying it do not go online searching for extra info of what happened after, at least one of the aftermaths spoiled the warm fuzzy feelings for me. True, one of hundreds, but still... Just enjoy the show.
This is what I call a "slow cooking" series. First impression was nothing to write home about. But then as I watched the 2nd chapter and then the third... I got more and more fond of all the characters.
It was on the cancellation buzz for a while, but apparently it's now out of the woods and will continue. I, for one, think it's great news. I really want to keep watching.
...
And then they cancelled. :( I really liked it.
This is one of those TV series you must watch more than 3 chapters to decide. The 1st 3 chapters were a piece of crap. Really really bad. But after that it picks up and you can enjoy 2 or maybe even 3 seasons more.
It started good (if you ignore those very first chapters), then started deviating from the books more and more, until it was doing its own thing.
I never understood why buy book rights to then not follow them at all. If you had better ideas you wouldn't need to buy someone elses's. Then WHY do you change everything until it looks nothing like the books?
Anyway... after some seasons it just became a joke. Last season I watched it was for the "facepalm" value and to have a laught at it. It was ridiculously bad to the point of being a joke and a sort of a challenge "let's see how much woorse and lame it can get... it couldn't go any lamer could it? O M G ... yes it could... they did it again and managed to make it even worse". After a while making fun of it got old and I stopped watching. Too dreadfull for words.
Probably something anyone aspiring to make TV series should watch to learns what NOT to do. I give it 2 just because at a certain point I did enjoy it.
1st season was SPEC TA CU LAR. 2nd season was too but I struggled with the fact that it wasn't a surprise any more. But it was still good and I wanted to keep watching.
The cancellation will probably go down in history as one of the biggest examples of bad decisions.
In any case, if you care about TV series at all, the 1st season is a MUST SEE. It's absolutely brilliant and I'm pretty sure it will have an impact on how things are done before and after. Some series and some movies simply bring so much into the table that even when they are gone they keep having an impact. I believe this is one of those.
I'm not really surprised the show wasn't renewed. It was OKeish as a summer TV series, but had little going for it. Never cared about what happened. And it's a shame because the plot was a good idea, but they didn't manage to execute it well enought to make me feel invested.
The show flopped something bad. And I'm still baffled over it. Was it greatest thing ever? No. Was it the worse? Far from it, not even bad. To me it was one of the best of the year in its category. But flop it did and away it went, and I'm really sorry about it. Maybe it had hard contenders at same hours scheduled somewhere else? Maybe it was badly schedulled or promoted so it didn atract it's target audience? I don't know. But I really don't understand how it's worse than other stuff that keeps going even when it's been asking to be killed for some seasons now.
It's well done, good characters, actors... nothing wrong with it. Except it never managed to convince me. In the end I dropped it after 9 chapters. I struggled with it since the begining, I wanted to like it... or even dislike it. But it does neither, it actually does nothing for me. And that's exactly why I dropped it. If you don't care after 9 chapters you might as well give up.
(PS: why the hell people rate shows when they haven't even seen it? And why does the site allow it? What value is it to me a bunch of 5-4stars rating when a 3rd of the comments are "can't wait to see it" or something similar?)
If you've seen Broadchurch, don't bother. I don't even understand why they felt it needed to be redone. The rest of the world watches USA productions all the time without issue. Do they think USA audience is more stupid or something and that's why everything needs to be rehashed?... Absurd and pointless. Stick to the original.
If you have NOT seen Broadchurch... well, then no idea how it is. I saw Broadchurch first, I started watching this version and dropped it 1 chapter and a half later because it was so simmilar it was absurd to watch anymore.
