I had such high hopes for this show. I loved the book series and hated the movie. If possible the show is worse. Bad casting, bad acting, bad writing. The changes made to the story are ridiculous. It's like someone took properties and bits and pieces of the book series, wrote them down and put them in a hat. They then drew it out of a hat and rewrote everything. It's not even that they changed things. It's that they changed things for no noticeable reason. Changing Simon's band and adding Maureen. Changing her art style. Making Luke a cop. It's just a huge series of things that aren't quite right.
I got through the first episode and couldn't make myself watch any more.
An amazing program with character development and symbolism galore. If you enjoy the evolution of a drug kingpin from being an innocent civilian to the natural conclusion of his career, you'll love this program. With an amazing ending that still leaves a decent amount of it up to you to decide, it is truly the story of Walter White. The one thing I can say is that this show is prime marathon material. With story heavy season-long plot, it's easier to watch multiple episodes together, so you catch the little things. You'll still enjoy it while watching episodes here and there, but I feel you'll lose a little bit of the magic.
So I really like this show. Why? I don't even know. The first episode you watch "Hey, this might not be too bad. Try to be The Walking Dead, but whatever." The second episode you watch "This is a little... bad.". The third episode you watch " Holy crap this is horrible. How is it so bad". The fourth episode you watch "OH! It's SUPPOSED to be bad". So once you discover that it's crap. You accept that it's crap. You learn to enjoy that it's crap.
