I'm not sure if this show is meant to be just funny. It seems it might try to be somewhat insightful and probably a little modern, just like we've learned HBO can deliver. It will be off-putting for people who were expecting a sit-com, it might be hard to swallow (excuse me) the LGBT themes for some. I have to admit I belive myself to be free of prejudice but there might have been an overabundance of man-on-man action here for the first 2 episodes. The characters however are great and so diverse that I bet comedy can be found in the eye of the beholder, depending on which of the magically colorful cast you might associate yourself or your friends with. I am loving it so far, but if you're not sure that you should try it, this might help a bit.
You might think this show is not for you. You might have watced half of the first episode and thought "no" right then and there. I was like that. I now sincerely encourage you to give it another shot. Just wait until Nick Offerman gets the ball rolling. You will love Ron Swanson so much you will never want this to end. Honestly, Leo, give that oscar back, there's someone more deserving right here.

This is one of the rare occasions when I am honestly rooting for a show to get renewed again.
granted, this is not for everyone - it requires a special blend of geek and arts-fan, but if you can get into it even slightly, it will suck you in all the way with no mercy. It's not as flashy as some shows are, may be even bland for some, but I see genuine passion from the actors doing it. If someone enjoys creating something this much, it just can't be bad. If for nothing else I advise watching this show as a tribute to those who made it.
I'm astonished by how bad the reviews for this show are. This is not your generic sci-fi with a splash of tweens in makeup. This has substance, it's actually got a decent plot and some really innovative perspective for its time. It is not simple, it will not be mindless entertainment, however it will be entertaining if you can follow what's happening. Not to mention Lexa Doig is really hot, but that's beside the point.
Brilliant show that will keep you glued to the screen until it is done with you.
Forget the ever-repeating plots and twists of TV shows and watch something more and better as if reading a good book.
That is all I can say about this show without spoiling too much for you, I suggest you now go and watch it.
This one is a pretty generic Shounen (Anime aimed at teenage boys).
It is by no means bad, but it is also by no means special.
The comedy element is ok, the drawing is very generic and bland though. Main upside to this would be that the way the plot is created allows for bypassing censorship requirements.
This show just cries cliche. It's showing us the end of the world (in a most biblical sense) so obviously there will be a family there to witness and run from it. Of course since "disgusting" is the new american way, instead of peanut butter&bacon we get apocalypse&zombies. To make it even more pointless the zombies will try to be "blended" into the biblical apocalypse by means of some ancient (6000BC and the-like) belief by some (also)ancient south-american civilization about some absolutely random monster that posesses people. Now my question is: why didn't someone let the author sober up/come down* and read his work before this was approved for production?

It's an absolutely brilliant show. The cast is great, acting is above-average and the plot is very immersing to the point where you will be able to forgive drama-inducing fiction. It gives off that nice "reality" vibe the way it's been filmed, almost like "Sense 8" or partially "Breaking Bad" would make you feel. I really recommend you watch this and wait with me for season 2.
