Louisa Atherton (Kerry Armstrong) is 49-years-old, and to date has lived a privileged and superficial life. That all changes when her husband dies in the arms of another woman, and leaves her flat broke, and homeless. She returns to her hometown of Rainbow's End, and begins reconstructing life for herself, and her teenage daughter, Holly.
