When Detective Sergeant Mackenzie Stone’s wife disappeared without a trace five years ago, his life imploded. His continual search keeps leading him back to two unrelated men, John Dean and Paul West (who killed his wife and child for insurance money). Stone’s instincts tell him to pursue Dean, determined to prove he is planning a similar fate for his own new family. But, as Stone’s behaviour becomes ever more erratic, the less credible his claims seem – leaving him to question his motives as he finds himself on the wrong side of the law.
