The magicians is a fantasy scifi show for magic lovers. Its mature enough that you get the nitty gritty details and paints a beautiful picture of a society where magic is as real as the dangers. Aspects of drama, dread and a feeling of a fantasy world bigger than itself are interwoven in the story. You can get lost if you don't follow along closely, they don't hold your hand with the storytelling. The characters themselves mature and evolve along with this ever changing world, the magic while at first good-natured gets very dark very quickly as the protagonists find themselves trying to outrun monsters, powers greater than themselves, and their own personal demons all to find a little light and good from the magic that they so desperately crave and need. They mature and grow throughout the seasons and realize everything comes with a price and its all about if they are willing to pay and suffer the consequences. This show is dark and gritty and real and not whimsical in the slightest. If you want a rich and sometimes convoluted story, a range of characters from the morbid to the self absorbed and a dark magic fantasy world that will surprise you all the way through then this is for you.
