There is no way I could ever be disappointed in something Neil Gaiman is involved in. Saw the pilot a while back, and a month later I am still as excited as I was after that. Tom Ellis makes a fantastic mischievous devil, similar in a way to his Rush. This has the potential to become a great series, it sure has the characters for it.
Also, I am a sucker for redemption stories, or any story that involves the devil in a capacity other than the boogie-man.
After the first episode I expect this series to be a roaring success. It has an absolutely stellar cast, the plot has me hooked and did I mention the absolutely fantastic actors? I would attribute the low overall rating to the fact that it could have been more fast paced, but as I see it more as a psychological thriller, personally I believe it is just the right speed for what it is trying to achieve. And the story itself is amazing, but no spoilers.
Angel from Hell is refreshing in its humour. A rather thin plotline to facilitate the jokes. The actors are clearly leading the series forward. I am curious to see where this is going, as only after the pilot I honestly don't know what to expect.
An amazing series of the early life of Inspector Morse. Absolutely amazing scenes taken all across Oxford. The cases are tricky and fascinating. Did I mention it being in Oxford?
I am a computer scientist and I found the series refreshing in the way it viewed engineering. It is rarely the case that media portrays hacking in its unfabulous way that it is (yes, reverse engineering the IBM computer can count as hacking). So the story veers to the business side of the tech industry when it wants excitement and that's all right. The politics of it are fabulous.
Oh, did I mention the actors and how great they are. And Lee Pace? Especially Lee Pace. Very much LEE PACE!!!! (I guess you figured out why I actually picked up the series....)
[PS: I have only seen the first episode as work and university (exams) had to take precedence]
[Based on the pilot] I have been a long time fan of Jackie Chan's and Chris Tucker's Rush Hour movies, which are absolutely fantastic (not works of art but funny and great dynamics) so it's safe to say I was a bit skeptical they could recreate the same chemistry. I think they almost succeeded. Carter is still fantastic and Lee has the same style. But even if the new Carter lives up to Chris Tucker's performance, the new Lee still has a bit to work for it. Sure the fight scenes are still good... but not Jackie Chan good. I'll keep an eye on it though.
A brilliant series for adults and children alike. It is Aang grown up.
The first episode has sadly been disappointing. The idea is fantastic, yet the way they've done it is lacking. I may keep watching just to give it a shot. But was overall disappointed.
It is definitely a fantastic thriller. It kept me at the edge of my seat throughout. And the cliffhanger of the pilot was pure gold. I very much like the idea, though the chosen one clichee is a bit old, however the main character is very believably human in his imperfections. There's some things that are not entirely clear (does good luck eventually return as bad luck? - maybe we'll find out if [SPOILER] is related or just a coincidence later.)
Overall, could be very promising. The characters are good.
PS: I thought the accents were a bit much... no idea why...
From the moment they reached Scotland and they started highlighting pieces of British history I loved it. The story of war, both modern and old, all in one, I have to say that I am very biased to time travel movies, as I love them. And I have to admit I love the main character, though a bit more could have been done to round her up. So you must wonder why only 2.5 stars. It is mainly because it turned into a soap. In "The Wedding", though an undeniably important stage the focus is placed elsewhere than it should, from one 10-minute scene to an entire episode. I felt like it lost focus on what drew me to the series and that is the magic and history.
