I have never played The Witcher game and I don't know anything about the book so i can't compare the Netflix adaptation with them, so I came into this show with no expectations or preconceived notions. I started watching this mainly because of Henry Cavill and the fact that it looked interesting. The show flows seamlessly and its setting is so smooth that it can perfectly immerse newcomers with no idea of any other prior material related to the plot. It's a masterfully crafted and acted adaptation. It can be difficult and confusing to follow at times when it jumps around to different points in time without warning. The backdrop of conquest, war, and apocalyptic prophecy was well balanced with Geralt's daily routine of monster hunting, a task his kind was designed to do as a Witcher. I'd add that the magical effects were also perfectly done. They were both subtle and effective. The supporting characters and two other leads all bring this fantasy world to life with very real performances that remind us that they don't have to be saving the world from an apocalyptic danger for their stories to hold true dramatic weight, and that's also a testament to the great writing this series has. Top-notch world and character building. The series definitely has a little something for everyone. Action fans will find plenty to like in the gorgeously choreographed fight sequences, and those who enjoy character-driven drama will be thrilled to know that the characters and their interactions and dialogue are really the series' bread and butter. Masterful job in the writing, direction, and production, as well as incredibly powerful performances from all three leads along with every supporting role. The cinematography was spectacular. The series has elaborate and detailed costumes, armors, weapons and set pieces. The world of the Witcher is permeated with the fantastical, you'll see witches and wizards, monsters, and magic, and just about anything that would satisfy a fantasy lover. This show delivers, the story arcs are coherent and engaging, and most importantly there is a good pace. The Witcher is an engrossing and fun fantasy show. The music is just sublime. The music in the series builds tension, and adds depth to the scenes that it is paired with. All in all I really enjoyed this show.
I was very interested to watch this show. I liked the books when I was a kid. This show is definitely different from books but that is not a bad thing. I really like the setting. It is interesting and unique, not being st in New York or Los Angeles but a small town. I love the thrill, the mystery, the professional acting and the phenomenal writing. I was super intrigued by the story telling and how it smoothly develops over the episodes. This show is surprisingly really good and if you're into murder mystery you'll enjoy this show. It's murder mystery with a ghost spin on it. It's enjoyable to watch and I hope this show doesn't get canceled. It is everything I love, mystery, thrills, and suspense.
With distinctive visuals and terrific casting, The Flash remains one of the strongest comic book shows on television. Packed with humor, spectacular visuals, and a whole lot of heart. This an interesting show with addictive story lines and great character development. The first season was amazing and enjoyable, and the story was very complex, yet felt smooth and even. Since Arrow was getting darker and darker, The Flash went in the opposite direction. It's the tonal antithesis of Arrow. Lighthearted, quirky, and silly, yet grounded enough to make us care, and the writing is just as sharp and witty as you'd hope.
The acting is great. It's refreshing in a CW show to have a likable good actor as the lead, and Grant Gustin knocks it out of the park. He's usually upbeat and quirky but when he's given the important emotional beats, he pulls them off well enough to tug at your heartstrings. The writing is also excellent. It takes a few episodes to get going but once it starts up it does not slow down. As the story starts to unravel and the plot slowly reveals itself, it's hard to take your eyes off the screen. There are more than a few jaw-dropping episodes and superb looking special effects and CGI monsters.
Like Arrow, there are some soap opera-y moments, but they're placed sparingly enough in the series that they don't take you out of the show. The dialogue is silly sometimes but that's what gives it its charm. It's not supposed to be brooding and gloomy like "Arrow"; it's light and upbeat while still delivering truly awesome comic book moments. And the threatening villains remain threatening - the Reverse-Flash is legitimately menacing, and the tone shifts appropriately for the episodes that he's in. In short, the writing is consistently great while managing to throw a few surprises at you along the way.
The character development was greatly done, the story lines are relevant still today and the characters themselves were very funny and relatable. From exam craziness, relationships, and finding part-time jobs to interracial dating, and hate crimes, This show handled it all and with style. Even difficult topics (HIV/AIDS, going to war, ex-prisoners)were addressed in the way would make you laugh and think. The theme song sung by Phoebe Snow really is the truth once you leave home, it really is a different world.
I really liked this show. It had a great concept. This show introduces us to the fascinating world of the Grim Reaper. Full of workplace rules, guidelines, assignments, and generally horrific deaths, Dead Like Me explores the subject of death in a very unusual, yet original way. It was just edgy enough to hold your attention yet soft enough to make you care. The actors did a great job of just being human in a non- human scenario. This show is a combination of extremely clever plot lines, a unique and unusual musical score, contemporary editing, and outstanding character casting. The chemistry of characters with this cast is more than exceptional. Writing and acting were excellent. It's superbly written and actually make you think about life in a different light. Both touching and grimly funny, which is a thin line to walk. Strong character development and compelling concept of life after death. This program deals more with life and how to live while you're alive than with death. The deaths are always wildly improbable, but then again, if you watch the news people die in weird ways every day. The music is appropriately atmospheric and thoughtful. The story lines are always a mix of sad, inspiring, and philosophical. These characters learn something and grow with each episode. Throughout the two seasons, the viewer follows life through the eyes of George, and also through her quirky narration. We see George grow into a more confident young woman, and also witness the interactions amongst the various characters and their reaps. An excellent show all around. I wish that there had been more seasons. The movie was good/ok. I was not in favor of some of the casting changes that were made in the movie. They messed with the chemistry of the characters that was so good in the show.
DS9 has some of the most creative stories. The stories are much deeper then any other trek series and mean something on the whole of the series. Characters are deeper, but more importantly actually grow and change. The side-cast has some of the best characters in all of Trek and their stories are not one off, one time episodes. There are many more reasons, but the most important one is that DS9 is the darkest Trek out there. And no, not edgy like Discovery, but actually dark. DS9 explores controversial topics that Trek has generally avoided like religion and genocide. Here, things are not black and white. Everyone, even the Federation is a shade of grey. All of the main characters are individually compelling. I could watch the series all over again and be just as entertained. Amazing visuals, great stories and all the while staying true to the spirit of Star Trek. A great mix of comical, wacky characters to lost, tragic outcasts bringing a true conception of what humanity would look and act like in such a timeline. Extremely well written and acted, with wonderfully convoluted characters. Loved that they were able to develop other cultures and species beside human like the Ferengi, Cardassians, Bajorans and Founders so thoroughly. A plot with such a well crafted and beautiful linear path always leaving you wanting more and wanting to know how it will all turn out. With the occasional intensely humorous episodes to the tears of a loss of a major character. Deep Space 9 has it all and more. DS9 was far more detailed and dove into concepts and themes that other shows didn't, you have politics, religion , love, drama ... everything. It makes the show seem so real. Then coupled with some of the most unique, interesting characters you just can't but help fall in love with this show. DS9 deviates from the Trek franchise formula in an important way - it is based on one location - a Cardassian-built space station near the planet Bajor. So even the architecture of the main set is alien - not another sterile militaristic star ship inhabited by a primarily white European crew - but a true Babel. Since the station does not move much during the show's seven year run, DS9 has a much stronger sense of place than the other ST series, and is able to develop story arc and character continuity much more powerfully than the others. All of the major characters and most of the frequent returning characters have their own interwoven story arcs - most of which span the entire series. This show has depth. It not all simple good guy and bad guy. There are complex motives behind many of the bad guys. Even the federation does some very bad things when they are in dire situations. People really have to live with the choices they have made. Problems from one episode don't just end with the episode like with The Next Generation or the Original Series. You have to watch this from episode 1 to the end in order. This show is still very relevant today. Terrorism, genocide, martial law, religious fanaticism are all seen in this series.
Sleepy Hollow was really, really good, until it wasn't. Tom Mison and Nicole Beharie are amazing actors, and they play their roles extremely well; the nuance in Ichabod and Abbie's characters and in their relationship is so well-communicated to the audience that you've really got no choice but to root for their successes, even if you don't agree with how they go about it. The cast was great, they really made the stories line become real. Such a unique way of showing a well-known history. I had never seen either Tom Mison or Nicole Beharie before, but both were amazing as Ichabod Crane and Abbie Mills respectively. I like the modern reboot of this classic story. I like the way they have taken the era in which the original Washington Irving story takes place, which gives a nod to the man and story itself and skillfully brings it into the modern day. The production has high values, looks very cinematic, with good visuals and fast, interesting editing. It was deliciously dark, grim and even somewhat gritty, but with some nice aesthetics. Its witty, funny, fast paced and the action scenes are quite impressive. You really see the fight, Good vs. Evil, to become more intimate. More personal. You now see clearly aspects of this, eternal fight, that other movies and series want to avoid. The main cast had good chemistry, not in the romantic/sexual way, but more like the start of an interesting friendship. The chemistry between the two main leads was electric and the main reason for watching. The show suffered in later seasons due to terrible cast changes. Not surprising it was soon cancelled after the changes.
This show was one of the most imaginative and creative shows. This show uses comedy to deal with real issues like love, friendship, self worth, mortality, death and so much more. You find every character relatable to yourself in some way. Another thing that goes underappreciated about the show is the soundtrack selection. Tthe music perfectly fits the mood and atmosphere of every episode. Scrubs is not just a sitcom though, it shows the ups and downs of being in the medical field. The triumphs and the trials of dealing with life and death. It's definitely a show i can watch over and over and not get bored. The writing was superb. You really felt every character and the emotions running through. The remarkable thing about this show is that it so deftly balances wacky, wild humor - the non sequitur fantasy sequences are hilarious - with surprisingly moving and quiet moments. The show's clever, the dialogue smart, the characters engaging and the the occasional veering into the absurd and outrageous provides a refreshing break. I always thought that Scrubs was a great TV show, not only for the great acting and the funny scripts, but also for showing what working in a hospital is really like. Most doctors would say that working in a hospital is not always like ER with non stop action but routine and ordinary. The show subtly examines many major issues (authority complex, race, etc.) without making it seem preachy. To do this well is itself a fantastic achievement.
This was a really good show and I was so sad to see that there was not a season 2. They should never of ended this show, especially on such a cliff hanger. It was set up perfectly for a second season that never came. The ending just left me hanging with questions and wanting to see more. This show had so much potential. The first season was amazing. It had it all. Sexy witches, drama, power struggles, deceit, and love triangles. The plot is really interesting, it catches your attention from the very first episode. The basic characters are many and different from one another and you can't pick a favorite. They are all really good. Each episode is thrilling and like all TV-shows the ending of each one is breath-taking, so you can't wait to see what will happen next. The farther you get into it, the better it gets and the more compelling the characters and story become. It becomes darker, more mysterious, the pacing becomes faster and the show itself begins to develop into a really great series of its own. The Secret Circle is a show where you can't make assumptions and think you're right, because the writers will end up spinning that assumption and giving you the unexpected. The show is compelling, it has a dark theme, plot-twists, there is mystery, romance, action, drama, horror, and of course the paranormal/supernatural elements of witches and magic.
I loved this series, just as much as I loved the movies! Amazing show with a unique and creative premise. it's educational, interesting, filled with action, adventure, comedy and romance. The characters were so good, and each one's story line, was very good. I loved the actors and the characters they brought to life, the writers did a wonderful job. The show ended on a good ending. I truly wish it wouldn't have been cancelled.
