If there is one thing the Brit's do right, it is their murder mystery/detective shows. They have been perfecting it for decades and Grantchester is no exception. It is a new and even strange detective pairing, with compelling characters and intriguing mysteries. If you are into this style of drama - it is a must watch!
I could not get into this show at all! Being a spin-off of Chicago Fire, it is hard to like the PD team because they basically bullied and blackmailed Casey on fire. Then they get their own show on that rocky start and did not climb to any better standing. It is sooooo dry. I’m bored out of my mind when watching this show. Even when there is a crossover with med, fire, or both- I still just avoid watching this segment of the crossover. I tried to include it, at least for those, but I was always disappointed and left unsatisfied. I have cut this show completely from my watchlist, it’s not going to fool me anymore!
If you want a medical melodrama that pushes into soap opera territory, then this is the show for you. This show had a promising start, it wasn’t the best but it cut the mustard, but as it has gone on, I feel like the writers are being pressured into making things WAY more dramatic than they need to be. It pushes the ridiculous and makes the characters seem less mature than anyone should be. It has gotten schlocky and cheesy, the medical stuff they actually do usually is wrong in some aspect and all the characters I once liked have either been given terribly over dramatic story arcs, or have left the show (good for them!). I feel like the only reason I watch it anymore is because of Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt), but even he can’t lift this show up completely on his shoulders alone. This might be the last season I can handle.
I cannot believe this show made it to 3 seasons and is still going. I really tried to like this show because of the people in it, but it was hard to watch. Each episode felt 3x as long as it was and I didn’t connect with any of the characters, in fact I had a distaste for pretty much all of the characters. I don’t know, maybe if I had stuck with it I would have seen some improvement, but I couldn’t bear to watch another second of it where I was. I hated it more than Ringer, and that is saying something.
I usually love Fran Drescher, but this show is a train wreck. I give all shows about 3 episodes before I make my decision on it, but this one nearly lost me at one. It has a premise that could have really spoken about the average Americans’ debt crisis with a light heart, but instead they went for the ridiculous and made the characters not relatable at all. It is all over the place and not very funny because it is so out of touch with reality. Also, they keep saying “the kids” but it looks to me that the little girl walked upstairs and may never come down again... especially since I doubt this series will last very long, though I have been wrong before (I.e. the last man on earth).
This show was so highly underrated. It was sweet and heartfelt but also sassy, sarcastic and hilarious. There isn't much more I can say about it, because it didn't last long enough to really get somewhere. However, I loved the premise and where it was heading, and it was heads above many of the sitcoms put out these days. It is honestly a loss that comedies like this don't make it most of the time.
This show is the strangest supernatural and upper-class farse I have ever watched, and I love it. It is perfectly cast and a hilarious watch. It is not an explainable show, but it is so worth the watch. It has so many celebrity voices and guest stars and it doesn't take itself too seriously. So sit and watch, share with friends, and don't forget to bring a Toblerone.
This show was super underrated. It was a new and interesting concept where you are semi-simultaneously seeing a person's life in three different time periods of their life, and each episode had a theme - which was super neat because there are times in our own lives that we can tie memories and pieces together just like that. It is sad and unfortunate that it was so underrated that it didn't survive past the first season. I would have liked to see where this was going.
This show was not what I expected. I like a good underdog story, and when it is about the stresses and struggles of being a professional ballerina, count me in! However, this show was wacky and a bit disturbed from the beginning. Usually seeing the damage ballet can do to one's body makes me cringe, but in this, it was everything else that made me feel ill. I suppose it was more like ballet meets Game of Thrones - so if you are into that, more power to you. I, however, like to keep those two things separate and I wouldn't recommend this show for the general viewer.
Although it had some really well thought out episodes, the overall story arc was weak and used too much exposition (talking and telling us, instead of showing and letting us put it together) - especially the first episode of the second season, where I was pretty darn bored. It clearly did not stand up to the original run of the series.
